1. All fish entered must be caught (i.e. hooked, fought, and landed) from a kayak in the state of California, no county boundaries present the whole state is fair game, without the aid of a professional guide, motor, or powerboat(mothership) and using methods deemed legal by the state of California.

2. Photographs with a digital camera providing evidence of the fish size with total length (except Yellowtail and Barracuda is Fork length as per DFW rules) of fish.
                A. One photo must be the whole fish taken from directly above the fish
                B. Then a close up of the tail section to clearly show the length which will be rounded down to the 1/4” increments.
                C. Part of the mouth must touching front of hawg trough / measuring board.
                D. If there is no picture provided with the whole fish against a measuring devise then the fish will be disqualified.
                E. If any of the pictures are blurry due to operator or climate they will be disqualified. It will be up to the AOTY committee if     accepted. We want to be fair but this past year in 2016 there was way too many photo’s that we will not be allowing in 2017. Multiple violations of this will lead to being disqualified for the year. Examples below.
                F. Decisions up to AOTY committee.
3. The fish and measuring device should be on a flat surface. Having a measuring trough to assist is mandatory and makes taking good pictures much easier. No laying measuring tape on top of fish must be under fish. We have them for sale see link below.
4. Dates to enter fish will be January 1, 2017 to December 31, 2017. Fish caught prior to January 1, 2017 are ineligible. Fish caught prior to payment of entry fees are also ineligible.
5. The California Angler of the Year (AOTY) covers the following 23 species Lingcod, Rockfish, California Halibut, Cabezon, White Seabass, Barracuda, Yellowtail, Surf Perch, Greenling, Saltwater Bass, Sheepshead, Largemouth Bass, Smallmouth Bass, Spotted Bass, White Bass, Striped Bass, Catfish, Crappie, Panfish,  Kokanee, Trout, and Salmon.
6. Only top 10 Species will count towards total for the year. But your largest of each species can be changed as often as you catch a new one as well as species can change as well.
7. No out off season or undersize or oversize may be entered. This includes proper measurement for all fish that have a minimum size. So for fish that have a minimum inch or max size they need to be measured with an attempt to keep the mouth closed. Fish that appear that they are short will be disqualified. So that means if your fish is boarderline short measure properly with mouth closed so there is evidence the fish is legal.
8. Entries must be posted within 15 days of being caught and photographed.
9. Panfish any of the following sunfish Bluegill, Green sunfish, Redear sunfish, Redbreast sunfish, Spotted sunfish, Pumpkinseed, Warmouth, and Sacramento Perch as well as Yellow Perch.
10. Trout will include the following species Rainbow, Browns, Brooks, and Cutthroat.
11. Saltwater bass will include Calico Bass, Barred Sand Bass and Spotted Bay Bass.
12. Please refer to California DFW handbook for all size limits and any further questions regarding species qualifications.

Top 5 anglers will be given additional tickets being 1st place getting “25” extra, 2nd place getting “20” extra, 3rd place getting “15” extra, 4th place getting “10” extra and 5th getting “5” extra tickets.

If submissions do not look like this we will start with a deduction and go from there. We are not going back and editing scores if you decide to submit additional photos because of the deductions. Submit them to start with so there is no issue. This means no cropping of photos it shows in the resolution and make it hard in some cases.
