Wilderness System Hatch Leak
« on: November 19, 2014, 11:34 AM »
Hi guys,   ;D :D

I would like to share some info in case anyone else is having a problem.  My Tarpon 140 is old - 2010.....the new yaks supposedly have a new locking system.

After the tournament I found my Tarpon 140 had 4 inches of water on the inside the hull.  I went home and did a leak test and absolutely no leaks from the bottom, flipped the yak over and it came spilling out of the bow hatch, with it locked. I contacted the company and they didn't state out right that there was a problem but sent me 2 new hatches! I heard from another angler the day of the tournament that there was a problem with the hatch locking system.

Can't wait to get back on the water but I am waiting for the hatches to arrive.

Yes, some of the older style hatches do/did leak and yes they have changed the design. I'm glad they are sending you the new hatches. They should be pretty easy to install.

The hatches are very easy to replace and finally in the process of doing so but the hatch locking mechanism looks the same  :o

Only one way to find out if they work!!  8)

Glad it's going to work out. Hey even my F&D lets in some water each and every time----just glad that it's not 4 inches.
