Hi all,

I知 Alex! I am a slo local that grew up fishing Margarita with my dad. Got back into fishing a couple years back and had been wanting to get a kayak for a while. Finally got myself a boat and went out for the first time with a friend last week. Launched out of Cambria and got my first ever fish from a yak, a little kelp bass! Safe to say I知 hooked! Anywhoo, I値l be the gal paddling around like a moron and if anyone has enough patience to take out a complete noob I知 eager to go out again!

Right on Alex, Welcome to the group and im sure no one would mind you tagging along. Just watch the forum and post when your heading out and someone might be able to join you out there.

Not a ton of locals to SB area. I fish the harbor every so often and a few of the local reefs and hit Cachuma during the winter. But for the most part north for most of my fishing. But when I do go out its unfortunately usually a weekday between family and work on weekends.

Hi Brian, and welcome!
I live and fish San Diego. I make my way up for the kayak fishing events as often as I can.
Id be glad to fish with you, if you ever make your way to, or south of Newport.
Check out the 1st annual clash of the kayaks event this year. Hope to see you there.

Greeting Board / New to the group - Intro

Hi All - My name is Brian and I've been fishing Santa Barbara County for the past couple years and recently invested in a hobie PA 14 to broaden my horizons a bit - SUPER stoked. I wanted to post to this group to see if there were any other local SB anglers in the group who would be interested in linking up in the future. I know that networking and getting to know the local, more experienced kayak group, is going to be my best bet to get the most out of this season. Is there anyone in the SB / Ventura etc area that would like to meet up for a session in the future?

Greeting Board / Looking for some kayak fishing buds in SLO

My name is Andrew (@Geofricker), I'm from NorCal originally, grew up fishing trout and recently have been kayak fishing for a few years in southern California on my Hobie. I moved to SLO about a year ago and want to get back into kayak fishing around here and meet some local anglers. I surf a lot and know these waters can be a little rough, so having a few buddies to help watch my back is never a bad idea. Looking forward to participating in the Slam Down this year and meeting all the local legends there too! Thinking of maybe trying to get out at Leffs this weekend, if anyone is heading out let me know. -Andrew

Hobie / Hobie PA 360
« Last post by beskew on July 09, 2019, 09:02 PM »
Thoughts on this new design? I have always wanted a PA for the extra space, stability, the seat, and storage. I was hoping Hobie was going to reveal a whole re-designed PA as they did with the Outback. While most of the features are the same this 360 drive is impressive. Here are my questions:
1.) Will the kick up fins make it easier to travel through kelp? If so, how much?
2.) Will the ability to peddle sideways help keep you on a structure in a fast drift?
Dang, it is expensive though...the boss is already mad I mentioned it.
