I think some good points talked about but there is one that I think does get over looked is the launching can be just as bad for guys that STOP paddling. Once you are in that kayak do not stop paddling till your well beyond the breakers. Always tough watching guys coming in and going out.

Fish Malibu on a summer weekend and you will see all types of mistakes. Especially from newbies and even experienced kayakers alike.

This is my favorite technique as its the safest with gear on board.

I like the part where he says to hop out of your kayak.  Not going to happen for me. I use the roll and duck method. I roll the yak and duck so it misses me. then it is pick up stuff. if any is off the yak.
Due to current economic conditions the light at the end of the tunnel has been turned off.

Seaweed when the legs are rubber I've rolled out also, one just has to sometimes. Also have all your gear attached then you don't have search for it. But I know you hnow this fact.
