John started kayak fishing shortly after moving to the Central Coast in 2003. In 2010 he co-founded CentralCoastKayakFishing.com with Ryan Howell aka RHYAK. Most of the time he is out in the ocean fishing for rockfish or halibut. John’s main kayak is the Old Town Predator 13 but he recently picked up an Ocean Kayak Trident Ultra 4.3. John is on the pro staff for Johnson Outdoors (Ocean Kayak, Old Town, Necky, Carlisle Paddles, Extrasport PFDs) and FINS Fishing Braid. His personal best catch from a kayak is a 24 pound halibut.
Winter brings rough seas so John tends to use that time for lure making. He loves his 5 oz lead jigs with Flashabou. These are a twist on a Larry Dahlberg creation. John does not sell them but will be happy to show you how to make them. If you have any questions feel free to send him an e-mail.
