I just got a lowrance Elite 5 DSI off ebay for what I think was a great deal. Do any of you fish with the elite 5 dsi, how do you like it?

I propose May 13th @ 6:30.  Enough time for me to round up some stuff to show & far enough away from GS8 prep. for those of you lucky enough to make the journey there!

I hate my elite 5 dsi. Never woulda bought it if I knew it doesn't work well in saltwater...mine maxes out around 80-100ft...any deeper and it only shows depth (no structure, fish, even if there's a whale 10ft under me lol). I never use the 800kHz setting because its useless. I think Lowrance realized the flaws with a dsi-only unit--so they started making hdi units that operate on all 4 frequencies (83/200 and 455/800). But that's just my experience...and experiences may vary.

I use the elite 7hdi which uses the same transducer just a little different screen and love it.  Another member jling uses the elite 5hdi and seems to have it dialed in when we go.  Make sure to get a good battery and secure your connections so that no water can get To them.
