Kayak Safety / VHF Radio - Do You Have One With You?
« Last post by daperrin on February 10, 2022, 10:49 PM »
I have noticed that many kayakers don't have a marine radio with them. Seems like a big risk to me. Some people say they have their cell phone in place of it.

Anyone know how far out you can go before you loose cell signals?

I don't think a cell phone is a much of a replacement. I mean if you fall in and get hurt or whatever, you can't easily pull out your cell phone (which is probably wet now) and dial up the coast guard.
