Hey there I'd love to go out with you. Let me know we can buddy boat. I'm atascadero. I used to wear board shorts and a hoodie. Some guys have wet clothes they launch and land with and dry sweats and hoodie they keep in a trash bag in the hull for after they are out there. That pa12 should keep you fairly dry. I have the same rig.
Cheers

Hey there I was ready to buy that sportsman as well. The hobies are tried and true tested and solid. That's what kept me on them. The old town has the bigwater or bigwave or something like that if you don't want to get wet I think they say that one handles chop the best. The Hobie outback and the pro angler are solid. The pro angler is and amazing beast of a yak. There is a tiny little blonde lake Fisher on YouTube that handles one so don't be intimidated by it. If you can't ride in them yourself that's best. Old towns look awesome though so just get what works for you.
Cheers. Also hit me up I want to get out. Maybe meet in big sur????

Hey thanks for the responses. Called a few places and I couldn't demo what I wanted to. Found a pro angler 12 for sale and jumped on it. Had the outback before and loved it.
Can't wait to get out with you guys. If you guys do any group meets I'd love in. I'm super chill not a weirdo I'll just bug you with questions probably.
Cheers and can't wait for the ocean to calm down so I can get out there. Taking the new rig to the bay to float around and try it all out this weekend.
Thanks

Welcome aboard Bro!

A lot of good boats out there right now, best to figure out your budget and what you want and need in a boat.  Demo if at all possible.  Personally I love my Wilderness Systems radar 135, but again what may be right for me isn't right for everyone.  Definitely worth looking into, Central Coast Kayaks in Shell Beach can be a good place to start and demo some boats.

Good luck in the search

Hey there guys. First time posting here. I used to own a Hobie Outback but I sold it. I am now in the market for another kayak. I was wondering what everyone thinks of all the pdl drive kayaks out there and even the motorized ones. Old town makes some cool looking ones. The pro anglers are obviously nice but expensive. Anyways I can't wait to get something and get on the water. Also if anyone has used ones shoot them over.
Thanks very much.

Gear Talk / fish finder with GPS
« Last post by Taed on May 06, 2020, 09:47 PM »
It has been a couple of years from the last update on fish finders. My Garmin striker 4+  After 2 years drank to much salt water and no longer works of coarse it stopped working when I needed it most it no workie, heavy fog cant see or hear the beach (landing spot) coming in. That is The main reason I got it!

The good basics simple to use, find nice structure's, time of day, water temp finding old marked hot spot's. depth, great price.

The bad lasted less then 2 years not dependable power wire corroded first year Needed it in the heavy fog 3 times and it did not work those 3 times. other minor no work problems back light

Will I replace it and with what ???? most bad is my fault  I now use dielectric grease on wire connections, clean and dry ASAP on shore,  I have a very wet kayak and go swimming way to often.
Any recommendations for a new inexpensive  Fish finder with GPS  or do I forget fish finder and go with GPS-Radio? most of my fish buddies do not use radio or fish finder  I do take my water proof phone in a water proof case??
Thank You
